Welcome to the Bridging Cultures Podcast!

One day a group of four ladies hopped on a Zoom call and said, “How can we share these amazing stories with the whole world?” Someone inevitably proclaimed, “Let’s start a podcast!” AND our “pod-squad” was born. Kathy Naugle, Courtney Holmes, Sheree Reece, and Joyce Appel and a bunch of other really awesome tech people (thanks Greg!) have been working on turning this dream into reality for about a year now. We’ve collected interviews, laughed, cried, and grown as human beings. We’ve recorded a series of interviews with our partners from around the world in person and via Zoom. We hope you’ll tune in to hear their passion through stories of triumph, perseverance, and strength. We have learned so much from doing this work and we hope you’ll love these stories as much as we do.

Love,
The “pod-squad”

Meet the voices:

Courtney Holmes

Born in raised in Tulsa, OK, Courtney now proudly calls Kansas City her home. She works in the accounting field and received her Masters of Business Administration during the pandemic. Through Church of the Resurrection, she has grown so much as a leader. She has traveled to Honduras both as a serve trip participant and then as a service trip leader. She went on the 2018 emerging leaders' trip to the Holy Land with the Church. She really enjoys meeting people and exploring this world. Courtney serves as host to the Bridging Cultures Podcast. She cannot wait to share this project with you!

Kendall Gammon

Kendall has had quite a career! He played football for Pittsburg State University and that led to a 15-year NFL career, he spent 7 years as the Kansas City Chiefs’ long snapper, going on to play in the 1995 Super Bowl and a 2005 Pro Bowl. He was a member of the Chiefs Radio Network for 12 years and was the color commentator for the Chiefs Super Bowl win in 2019. While Kendall loves both his roles as a professional speaker and Special Assistant to the President at his alma mater, Pittsburg State University, he loves his role as a father even more. When he isn’t on the road you can find him spending quality time with his grown sons, Blaise and Drake. Kendall is passionate about serving globally and has taken trips to Haiti with Church of the Resurrection. He lends his expertise to the Bridging Cultures podcast as one of our co-hosts, and he hopes you will tune in and subscribe to the podcast.

Robin McCullough

Robin is a fun-loving mom of three who can do anything! That includes serving as an awesome co-host to the Bridging Cultures podcast. When she’s not providing witty banter as a podcast host, she works for Hallmark and substitute teaches at a local school. She also leads a fantastic bible study. She loves her husband and they enjoy traveling together. She loves to read, has a huge heart, and lives life to the fullest. If I had to pick one word to describe Robin, it is “caring.” She was excited to go on her first mission trip with Church of the Resurrection in 2017 to Honduras where she fell in love with the country and its people. Robin hopes you enjoy the Bridging Cultures Podcast.

Sheree Reece

Sheree is passionate about encouraging others to be their best selves - whether that is here in the US, or around the world. She is married with 3 adult children, as well as mom to an incredibly sweet dog and very disagreeable cat. She has worked with international community leaders since 2011 and continues to be humbled and inspired by their incredible work, perseverance, and kindness to others. With others, she dreamed of this podcast so that the world can hear straight from those doing the incredible work, the difference they are making in the lives of the most vulnerable. Stories of local leaders that are rising their communities up out of poverty will be shared so that others can learn from them and possibly join in on their work. When she's not working or hiding from the cat, she loves running with her friends and watching the sun rise.

Joyce Appel

Joyce loves learning, experiencing new things, and helping things grow – plants or people! She is currently pursuing her Master of Divinity so she too can master the divine. Just kidding, that’s not really something you can master, she’s in pastor school. She hopes to eventually get her PhD in missiology and one day teach future pastors and church leaders how to serve locally and globally with mutuality. She’s worked with Church of the Resurrection since March 2020 serving alongside international partners in Latin America. She chose this job because of the good coffee perks… AND the opportunity to build cross-cultural relationships that lead to mutual thriving. As a self-proclaimed podcast junkie, this seemed like the perfect way to share that passion with the wider world. Joyce serves as producer for the Bridging Cultures podcast.”
