Dalitso Nanjala's Story

My name is Dalitso Nanjala and I am 17 years old. I was born in a family of seven children and am the only male. My father died when I was three years old. My mother was the one taking care of us by doing some piece work and I had to drop out of school when I was in primary school to help her provide for the family. Now that she is older, I am the one who takes care of her since my six sisters are all married.

When I joined the United Methodist Church, I stayed busy with my fellow youths in the choir. After hearing the news about the vocational program, I applied for it and was very happy when I was one of the selected people to attend. I am doing tailoring and I am able to design various fashion clothes. I am very thankful for the program because it answered my prayer and is a way to support my mother through the little money I will be getting from my tailoring. I am also thankful to the church for giving us an opportunity like this.
