Ireen Mvanda's Story

This is Ireen Mvanda, born on the 19th of May 1989 in Mangazolimba Village, T/A Nsabwe in Thyolo District, currently living in Liwonde Township.

Ireen grew up in a very poor and vulnerable family. Both of her parents died while she was still young. Due to this, Ireen had no one to pay for her fees leading her to drop out of school when she was in form one. After dropping out of school Ireen had no hope for her future and decided to get married since she was just staying at home doing nothing.

Things got even tougher after getting married as the responsibilities increased and she still had no source of income to support herself and the family. Due to this, Ireen started thinking about Technical or skilled trainings so that she can sustain her day to day life. Unfortunately, she could not enroll because of lack of financial support. That’s when United Methodist Church came in with the Vocational program and she happened to be one of the selected youth to do the vocational trainings.

Today Ireen is glorifying the name of Lord that her desire is being fulfilled because of the financial support rendered unto her though his grace. She would like to thank the United Methodist Church for the introduction of this program and all the well-wishers for funding it. She hopes the program will change the social and economic lives of many youths and also the life of the United Methodist Church in Malawi.
