Dedza Circuit Broiler Chicken Farm

In Malawi, there are “circuits” in which pastors rotate between conferences and touch the lives of many rural villages. One issue in the past has been that it has been hard for members of the circuits to effectively finance their own activities/events, make consistent contributions and be economically stable. As a solution, the circuit loan project was introduced to empower leaders within the communities to start their own businesses to become net positive with their finances.

This project was introduced in the Dedza circuit to create a broiler chicken farm and we are happy to announce that by June the loan will have been fully repaid and will be ready to circulate to a new circuit! This has been done despite the economic struggles of COVID 19 and truly shows the resilience and drive that our partners have. Not only did they learn to create their own chicken feed when stores closed but the project allowed for new jobs and opportunities to enter the community and assist in the creation of economic stability.

Moving forward, the circuit loan project will be expanded to the Bethel and Ngabu circuits with the goal of financial self-sufficiency one circuit at a time!
